Winter camping - the thought of it can be intimidating for some. However with careful preparation, and an experienced guide, it can be an exhilarating experience.

Discover the magic of pristine snow blanketing the forest, while you slip silently though the woods on your own dogsled. Set up a cozy camp on a sheltered bay of a pristine lake. Savor the evening around a warming fire, with more stars than you thought possible studding the sky above. Listen to the dogs answer the howl of a lone wolf. These are just some of the experiences unique to a winter dog sledding trip.

This season we're introducing our NORTHWOOD EXPLORER TRIP - an opportunity to learn how to winter camp while traveling by dog team. We'll ease in to winter travel by spending the first night at our backcountry yurt, learning dog sledding and winter camping skills. With our seasoned guides you'll enjoy driving your team across remote lakes and forested trails, making camp in the wilderness the following two nights. Four memorable days of dog sledding are capped off with a final evening back at the lodge.
