And yes, it is true, the dogs are equally psyched.  With the first snowfall, the excitement in the kennel starts to amplify, and every human stride towards the harness rack elicits a crescendo of excited yelping from the dogs.  They are aching to go, and dig in deeper when it’s their turn to run.  We’ve made the switch from fall training and conditioning -- pulling an ATV through mud puddles, along gravel trails and  across frozen ground.

Now we're moving faster, pulling a sled over soft snow, cruising through the forest silently-- and they love it!  The dogs know that soon they’ll be meeting all sorts of new faces and returning mushers alike.  It's contagious --- come be part of the fun.

Lodge Based Trip Dec 28-Jan 1. 4 night stay, 3 days of Mushing…

A delightful holiday getaway.  Join us for a traditional style trip, based at the comfortable full service resort in Ely, The Grand Ely Lodge.  Three full days of dogsledding and fun.  We teach all skills, and insure a steady progression of skills and adventure.  Traditional style trips are perfect for first time mushers and families.  One person rides in the sled, while the other stands on the runners and drives the sled.  There are ample opportunities to switch roles throughout the day.  Weather permitting, this trip culminates with a day traveling the scenic chain of lakes in the renowned BWCAW (Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness).  Play hard during the day, and retire to the comforts of a warm welcoming lodge in the evening. It's a perfect way to conclude 2010 in style and celebrate the New Year. More info.

"Theo and Christina took us over hill, dale, lake, creek and timber on one of the most exceptional journeys of our lives. We saw areas only captured in postcards. Truly beautiful here. The yurt was a learning experience, too. Not being campers by nature, we had much to learn about staying warm in 12 degree temps. Our good guides showed us well. I can't think of a better way to beckon in the New Year."
