Filson Creek Parking Lot
Follow Hwy 1 south from Ely for about 11 miles (about 6 miles from the Hwy 120 turn-off). Toward the end of these miles you will cross a concrete bridge that is next to a small dam. A short distance later you will cross a second bridge. Immediately after crossing this second bridge, begin looking for Spruce Road on the left at the crest of the hill. The Outward Bound School is on this road, so you will see their sign. Turn left on to Spruce Rd (FR 181) Follow this road for approximately 4 miles. Always keep going straight. The parking lot is about 2 miles beyond the left-hand turn-off for the Outward Bound School, marked by a forest service signs for Entry Point 32 and “additional parking” signs.
As above, follow Hwy 1 south, about 8 miles past the turn-off for the Spruce Road. The Tomahawk Rd is between mile markers 304 and 305, and is also marked as the 377 Road. Turn LEFT on to 377. There are two parking areas. The first is immediately on the right as you turn on to 377. The second is 1/2 mile down the road, on the right, where you will find a green street sign for “The Kelley Loop”.
Moose Lake Landing
Located 23 miles northeast of Ely, the Moose Lake canoe access is just off the Fernberg Trail. Head east on 169 from Ely, past the hamlet of Winton and keep on going. Take a left on to Moose Lake Road. Follow it 2-3 miles and bear left at the sign for Moose Lake Landing/Boat Launch, LOWER parking area. You will find our dog truck and guide in the parking lot getting ready for the day. Plan on a 40 minute drive from Ely in the winter to get here. Outhouse facility available at the landing.
Fall Lake Landing
From Ely, follow MN-169N/Sheridan St. east through town and on past the hamlet of Winton. You will be on “The Fernberg Trail.” In roughly 6 miles from Ely, turn LEFT on to FALL LAKE RD. Go 1.2 miles to the campground. Turn LEFT into the parking area/boat launch. A second left takes you in to a large parking lot. Park here. You will find our dog truck and guide in the parking lot getting ready for the day. Plan on a 15 minute drive from Ely in the winter to get here. Outhouse facility available at the landing.
